I’ve heard ForestFit is hard, will I manage the beginner group?
Our beginner group is designed to start very easily to introduce the exercises and to build your strength and cardio vascular ability. Even the most deconditioned person will be able to manage the beginner training. Of course you can push yourself harder or take it easier, we will not force you to train at a level that is unsafe or unsuitable for your condition.
What do I need to wear for the workouts?
Wear normal workout clothes, of course adapting to the conditions of the day. You will get quite warm once you start training, but for the early morning groups you may need an extra layer. Find a pair of sturdy trainers, light pumps will not cut it in the forest! You will get dirty so don’t wear your favourite pristine white gym clothes. During the winter it is advisable to wear gloves and a hat.
Can I just pay for the workouts individually?
Unfortunately not, ForestFit is very different from the exercise classes you have done before. The format is designed as a four week program of training that starts with teaching you the technique and form of the exercises and then progressively builds on that over the 4 weeks. For this reason we don’t let people come and go as they please to ForestFit, in order for you to get the most from the program it is better to come for the duration of the 4 week program.
Can I pay using a method other than Paypal?
Yes, you can pay by bank transfer or cash. However your place is NOT secured until payment is received and you may lose your place. Bank transfer payments should be made to Tim Goodwin at BGL – LU60 0030 0047 4425 0000 Please reference ForestFit and the group you wish to join, plus give an email address I can contact you on also.
I am going to miss some workouts during the month, is it still worth me joining?
As a rough rule of thumb, if you know you will miss more than 4 of the 12 workouts, then you may find you don’t get the most from ForestFit, however we do have people who pay the full fee knowing that they can only come to half the sessions but really want to join us.
Do I need to follow a nutrition plan as well during ForestFit?
No, not necessarily, although we do recommend that you follow our “Nutritional Responsibility” program as a lifelong habit. Our simple program is not a diet, however it will remove any worry about over-eating, cravings or needing to go on diets ever again. More details can be found at our Nutritional Responsibility BLOG.
How long are the workouts?
The workouts last for 45 minutes. This normally comprises of 5 minutes warm up, a 35 minute powerful fat burning workout and 5 minutes targetted stretching. We always start exactly on time, we ask all participants to get to us 5 minutes before the start time.
Is there changing facilities near by?
At Bambesch there are shower and changing facilities which are open from 6am.
Will I get lost in the forest?
In good old US army war films fashion… “No one gets left behind!”. Seriously we do only go a short way in to the forest and we always stay together as a group throughout the workout. Normally we only run for 100 meters at a time before stopping for a set of an exercise.
I am worried I will not know the exercises?
All our coaches are trained to personal trainer level and teach each exercise in order to get everyone doing it with correct form and full safety.
Can I come to try out ForestFit once, to see what it is like?
Yes, each month we an invite only Introduction Week for you to come and try out ForestFit for FREE. Click to V.I.P. Pass to get your invite, or email contact@forestfit.com for details.
What happens during the winter months?
We continue to train right through the winter, the only difference is our 7am group moves to an area in the city that is better lit than the forest. For example the Petrusse valley and the Pirate Ship playground in the city center was used last winter.
Do you still train in bad weather?
Generally we train in all weathers, however we do occasionally cancel because conditions make it unsafe to train. For example thunder and lightening, extreme cold or icy conditions.
How far do you go during the workouts?
Normally the workouts go between 1 and 2.5km. The longer workouts are reserved for the more advanced groups we run.
Can I just pay for half the month?
Again we cannot accept part payments because in general we fill our groups every month. We would prefer to have a group of people who can come to ALL sessions rather than take away a place for someone only able to do half.
I am coming on my own, what are the other people in the group like?
One of the great things about ForestFit is the community. We have found people will make new friends at ForestFit, we have regular social and sporting activities outside the training that brings people together. We all have fun during the workouts, get people to work together and support each other. I am proud to say this is one of the primary reasons why ForestFit is so different from many other training programs.
